Holidaze
It has been a few years since I worked a regular job, so I had forgotten about the mid-December slump. The week before everyone goes on vacation. The week when people stop by your desk for a chat and stay for an hour. The week when meetings diverge into weird little free-associative conversations. Where people get up to do something, and then forget what they were doing. I'm sure several management books have been written on the subject. What I had forgotten was how fun the slump is. People are more likely to self-disclose. People bring in candy, and then start long conversations about the candy. Work takes on an air of benign distraction.
