Oh yes.

In less than a week, 118 of our friends and relatives will stop by to dance at our wedding. I’m up late picking the music. Any suggestions?

I’m battling the forces of Chicken Dance here, people. I could use a hand. What is on your Do Not Play list?

  1. I think that there are some choice selections from A Date with John Waters.

“I love to take orders from you.”
    “Jet Boy Jet Girl”

“In spite of ourselves” might be too quiet.

I’m sure you’ll end up with some good stuff.

  2. “Brown-Eyed Girl” reminds me of every lame school dance I ever went to.

In general, though, I wouldn’t put too much on the “do-not-play” list: your guests often have musical taste that differs from your own, and although you want to hear your favorites, you want to make sure the old folks have something to boogie to.

  3. I made an iPod playlist for my wedding. Helped me avoid disasters like “Another One Bites the Dust” which was played at a friend’s wedding. Strangely, “Like A Virgin” was a huge hit with the crowd.
